Summer Term 2020

Summer School!

Week 1

Ks1 and 2 had fun today, challenged to build towers from spaghetti and marshmallows! We investigated the best structures and shapes. In the afternoon we created our own fitness videos - we challenge you to keep up with us - before relaxing with some underwater-themed yoga.

In Early Years, we built an obstacle course, undertook several senses activities and did some farmyard yoga - what fun!

In KS1 and 2 today, we built our own spaceships. We also created our own aliens out of gloves as well as space outfits from junk materials.

In EYFS, we made a rocket, an alien and an astronaut's helmet out of junk materials. We looked at Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night, which inspired some artwork using foil and paints and we also did some space yoga!

Today, KS1 and KS2 finished their space outfits and did a fashion show for EYFS (We learned a few David Bowie songs to accompany this!) We made a section of a Batik of Happiness mural each, learning lots of new skills! We finished up the day with some space yoga.

In EYFS, we read the Hungry Caterpillar and tasted some fruits. We learned about different ways to breathe to relax and did some fantastic outdoor art with chalks and water. We also made sections for the Batik of Happiness mural and had fun watching the Space Fahion show. What a fun day!

Everyone had great fun making pizzas from scratch today - and wow! How tasty they were! In KS1 and 2, we created even more crafts, whilst in EYFS, we did some bug hunting. We saw some amazing creatures in our field and try to recreate some of them through crafting.

For our final day of the week, KS1 and 2 had to build forts to protect ourselves from alien invaders who had come to steal our space crafts from earlier on in the week! We headed out into the field with whatever we could find handy, to build shelter and weapons to survive with.

In EYFS, we created a house for teddy bears outside, undertook lots of teddy crafts and made fruit kebabs for a teddy bears' picnic.

Luckily, the weather was perfect and we all had great fun playing in the sunshine.

What a fantastic week!

Week 2

Today, we undertook  challenges including blindfolded trails, obstacle courses and blindfolded ball games.

In EYFS, we created homes for all of the different creatures that we found on our trail.

In KS1 and 2, we then had great fun using our athletic skills to undertake a mini sports' day. We then moved on to compass work as well as creating our own treasure maps to find hidden objects tomorrow! All finished off with some pirate yoga!

In EYFS, we enjoyed acting out the story of The Hungry Caterpillar. We then made our own hungry caterpillars!

In KS1 and 2, we watched Caterpillar Shoes and then some of us designed and created insects, making houses for them too. Others of us made dioramas of the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly. What a crafty day!

This morning in KS1 and 2, some of us finished off our crafts from yesterday. Some of us moved on to work on Purple Mash, creating artwork on the computers! In the afternoon, we made pictures on the playground using natural resources. This was fun!

In EYFS, we spent the morning outside carrying out nature scavenger hunts and artwork. We even drew in chalk on the playground! We also made some beautiful pasta jewellery!

Today, we all made pasta jewellery across all of the year groups. We made our own chicken wraps, as well as vegetable crisps and put these into a homemade lunchbox, before KS1 and 2 went for a walk before settling down to a picnic!

We also all made bird feeders using butter and bird seed - what a mess! laugh To finish it off, we made smores using marshmallows, chocolate digestives and tea lights.
