Welcome to our Arlecdon early years class!
Meet Mrs Finlay and the fantastic learners in our early years class. This week they have had a very large intruder to the classroom as they start their project on dinosaurs!
At Arlecdon we offer full day term-time care for children from two years old. Our flexible childcare arrangements suit working parents and many choose to use our breakfast and after school provision too.
The key focus for our early years class is to spark curiosity and ‘hands on’ investigative learning- this week as ‘dinosaur detectives’. The school day is focussed and fun. The children develop independence and resilience through exposure to a variety of environments for hands-on play. These include our exploration field with:
Our classroom environment is also flexible and creative. Where possible, classrooms follow the children’s interests and our early years themes. Children are encouraged to follow their own lines of enquiry, with a focus on communication and questioning. All pupils enjoy high quality phonics provision using the ‘Read, Write, Inc.’ reading scheme and we believe that starting learning phonics early is the best foundation for lifelong learning. Our results in the phonic screening test at the end of Year One have been above national averages for many years.
Our early years pupils also have access to the following experiences:
We have places available in our Early Years and Foundation Stage Unit. FREE taster sessions are available and places can be flexible to accommodate working parents or other childcare options. We accept childcare vouchers and have funded places available.
Our parents are our best advert. Recent feedback includes:
“My child’s confidence and independence has grown so much and his maths and phonics skills are growing each week”
“Both my kids really enjoy going to school and the nursery, along with Mrs Finlay and Mrs McGeehin who have really helped their development”
